Grand Rapids E-Liquid | Ingredients We Use

An electronic cigarette or e-cigarette is a completely different idea from smoking, as a process. It actually gives away the quite a same feel to the users (can’t say smokers because it doesn’t release a smoke!) as they do while smoking a traditional cigarette. These are battery operated devices (so the name e-cig) typically designed to deliver nicotine e-liquid with additional flavors through some other chemicals to users in form of vapor instead of smoke or burning tobacco.

Most e-cigarettes consist of three distinct components, like:

  • a cartridge, which holds a liquid solution containing variable amounts of nicotine, flavorings and other chemicals
  • a heating device (i.e. vaporizer)
  • a power supply unit (usually a battery)

In most e-cigarettes, puffing or pressing a button activates the battery powered heating device, which then readily vaporizes the liquid already put inside the cartridge. The resulting aerosol or vaporized liquid is inhaled by user (called "vaping").
Something to keep away from.
It is not possible to list all the various flavoring chemicals usable to e-cigarettes, but one such chemical, diacetyl, is commonly used to add buttery flavor to popcorn. It's known to be linked to obstructive lung disease when inhaled. Other chemicals that add buttery flavor like it might be harmful as well.

Some other ingredients.

Propylene glycol or PG is a lab-made liquid that the FDA generally views as safe in food, drugs and cosmetics. It's also used to make artificial smoke or fog for rock concerts and other theatrical performances or movie shootings.  It can irritate the lungs and eyes and may be more harmful for people with chronic lung diseases like asthma and emphysema.

Glycerin is odorless and colorless. Liquid glycerin has a slightly sweet taste. Like PG, the FDA generally views it as safe. It’s found in many products, including food and drugs.

Formaldehyde  is a probable carcinogen (we do not use it).

Acetaldehyde  is another probable carcinogen (we do not use it).

Acrolein is formed from heated glycerin, acrolein can damage the lungs and contribute to heart disease in smokers (we do not use it).

All three are released in increasing amounts as the temperature of the e-liquid rises. Users may be tempted to go for those higher temperatures for more intake or inhale volume at one go.
